About Me

My name is Mike Killey and I’m an experienced software developer with over 20 years experience, based in Weston-super-Mare, UK.

The majority of my development experience has been utilising Microsoft technologies. I take great pride in having worked in both frontend and backend stacks over the course of my career, and have extensive knowledge of database technologies mainly using Microsoft’s SQL Server.

Outside of work I enjoy walking and spending time with my two dogs.

About this blog

Vade Mecum (Latin for “go with me”) is a old term that has long been used for manuals and guidebooks that are compact enough to fit in a pocket. But more recently the term may be used in reference to works that are intended as one-stop guides on a particular subject, and feels an apt title for a blog which can be accessed easily online.

As such I hope to use this blog as a handy reference guide for those small tidbits of information / practices and discoveries that I encounter on my continual learning journey so that I can reference them myself and in hope that they may be of use to others with their ongoing personal development.

There is no end to education. It is not that you read a book, pass an examination, and finish with education. The whole of life, from the moment you are born to the moment you die, is a process of learning.
